'How did it all begin?'

Voted café of the year by Venue Magazine in its first year the Thali café has steadily gone from strength to strength. Critical acclaim has come from both local and national press but really the word on the street has been the key to its popularity. Now after a decade in existence the Thali team run three restaurants and a pioneering eco takeaway scheme.

'What's a Thali?'

The word ‘Thali’ simply refers to the special stainless steel plate that the meal is served on. Millions of Indians eat Thalis every lunch and dinnertime, it’s a traditional well-balanced meal that has kept a country healthy and nourished for centuries. The chef’s specialise in a simple and delicious home cooked style. An entire meal in the evening consisting of six dishes costs a ridiculous £6.95. You just cannot pigeon hole this place. The eclecticism, the kitsch yet classy décor, the non-existent menu, the random musicians who drop by to play music to diners makes it a restaurant like no other.
For a welcoming, entertaining, digestively satisfying and cheap night out the Thali Café cannot be beaten.

Book to avoid disappointment.
